Here's a quick analysis of the supposed 85 bans that are nothing more than a National Party / Kiwiblog attack on the Greens:
http://greenhawkesbay.wordpress.com/2008/10/29/85-bans-and-what-they-really-are/

With the public increasingly turning to the Greens, it is inevitable that those who wish to protect the interests of the rich and polluters should roll out attacks on us. We're always happy to debate any policy on its merits, but would prefer not to engage in rhetorical slanging matches.

You comment on how the Green party can smash through the 10% glass ceiling?

Gee Tom get your brush and pan out and start sweeping up the broken glass!!!-Guess what...........

"NZ Morgan Polls -October 6-19, 2008 –Green Party 11.5%

The Morgan Poll was the most accurate in predicting the small margin between the two major parties (a Labour lead of 1.5%) for the September 2005 General Election."

Perhaps someone [not me] should BAN polls before an election?????????

Keep digging - The Greens can stand the scrutiny -not sure about the others!

Ironically, when the Greens promote price-based measures instead of 'bans' (regulation) we get attacked for that too. E.g. Emissions Trading Scheme. It's human nature that we all want everyone else to change behaviour, not oneself.

However, it is all about (mis)conception. The number of 'ban' words is partly due to our website containing 10 years of information and policies on all portfolios, many of which run to many pages - all in the interest of transperancy and openness. Other parties hide their intentions by not presenting information.

If you named any other party, I could compile a list of things they wish to ban too, although they may not use that word specifically.
Kiwi Party want to ban so-called 'anti-smacking' law; National want to ban MMP; Maori Party want to ban GST on food; NZ First want to ban gangs; etc

Kiwiblog missed one: Greens economic policy wishes to ban tax the first $10,000 of everyone's income.

This exercise is simply an excuse for anti-Green forces to try and undermine the Greens, but most New Zealanders know we can be trusted and have smart solutions to environment, economic and social issues of today - and that's why so many are turning to us this election.
