Health
Is health care sick in Hawke’s Bay? Is “the system” responsive to all elements of our community? Is the quality of care what it should be?
Are important public health issues — specifically, those that might arise from environmental factors, like unsafe water or polluted air — un-addressed here in the Bay?
What is the role of the HB District Health Board in ensuring the region’s health needs are met?
Since health policy and spending levels are set by Government, shouldn’t we take any complaints we have about health care to Wellington?
These are the questions BayBuzz attempts to address in our coverage of health issues.

Hawkes Bay in common with the vast majority of Western countries and regions, has very little in the way of ‘Health Sickness’. What we do have is a sickness service.
I’d like to see the name changed from the Hawkes Bay District Health Board to a more honest Hawkes Bay District Sickness Board.
I have a theory that a simple name change would reduce demand and subsequent costs as people started to take responsibility for their own health rather than waiting to get sick!
